最近は新しいバイト先にも馴れてきて、かなり自由に接客できるようになった。

お店にはfree wifiがあることや、新宿という立地、そしてなにかのガイドブックに書いてあるのだろうか、観光客や日本に滞在している多くの外国人の人が訪れる。

自分もバックパックをしていた時に、米とヨーロッパの様々なレストランやカフェに訪れたのだけれど、日本の形式張った接客とは違うアットホームでフランクな態度の店員さんが大好きだった。

最近、そんな自分が好きな店員やサービスを、お店に来るお客さんにもできてる気がして、アルバイトが毎日楽しい。

先週、アルバイト先のお店で、親しくなったカナダ人の方から感謝のメールを貰った。

Hello and hope you had a wonderful day off yesterday.

I want to extend a few words of gratitude for not only serving us Monday evening but also taking care of our reservation last night (Tuesday March 27th).

We (my sister, my niece and I) had an amazing time. We really appreciate that you took the time and effort to reserve us a great table. In addition, your attention to detail and ability to go that extra mile is simply amazing. Please continue on in this light. You are professional that cares of its customers and that will help them come back over and over again.

Speaking of coming back, I will do that soon. We really liked the Tuesday night theme of having a guest DJ. Excellent idea! So, you will see me there often.

やっぱり接客業の楽しさってこういうところ。

将来は、朝だけしかオープンしないコーヒースタンドを開いて、お客さんとダラダラと話をしながら、

”Make it a great day!”

なんて一言添えて、その人の一日を送り出してあげる。

そんな日々もいいかもしれない。
